From Pastor Dennis,

Maybe you can identify with the way I have felt about church at times in my life. Perhaps you attended a church in the past and are still interested in learning more about God, but when it came right down to it, you drifted away from church because:

• the people weren't very friendly, and you weren't connected there
• the sermons were boring and didn't relate to you
• you couldn't identify with the music
• it seemed like they were more interested in your wallet than in you
• it wasn't clear where the church was going and how you fit in

A few years ago my wife Ruth and I along with many of the folks of our church had a vision for a different kind of church. We wanted a church where everyone would feel welcome, and where we could all learn and grow together as we learned how Christ could make a difference in our lives and in our communities. We knew that attending a vibrant church could be enjoyable. We wanted to be in the kind of church where we could be ourselves, and where we could meaningfully connect with friends and with God.

Our dream for Heartland Community was for it to become a church where:

• people are genuinely friendly and care about you
  
• we can learn something new and be encouraged each week
  
• we can serve together and reach out to our community
  
• the worship is exciting and powerful, with upbeat contemporary music
• kids are well cared for in a safe environment where they can have fun and grow
• there is a clear purpose and direction to the church and a place for everyone to fit in

Today our dream has become Heartland Community Church, and this vision is being lived out according to God’s purposes for His church. We certainly don't have all the answers, but we're learning from God's word and from each other, and growing together in authentic community.

We also believe that all these good things are too good to keep to ourselves! We'd sure love it if you would join us as we discover God's love.
